As high achievers with big goals, we’ve all been there.
Your brain says one thing, but your intuition | gut says another.
The logical choice is clear, but something about it feels…wrong.
Do you trust the data? Or do you follow your intuition?
We worship rational thinking, we’re taught to prioritize intellect—facts, logic, pros and cons. But emotions and intuition aren’t just noise. They carry wisdom, too, sometimes more powerful than we know.
Relying purely on intellect can make you:
Overanalyze instead of act
You create endless pros and cons lists but never move forward and demand proof before action.
Choose what makes sense but not what feels right
You stay in the “safe” job, the predictable path, the logical decision—while something inside feels off.
Ignore intuition because it’s “not data”
But intuition is a strong form of intelligence, just one we don’t always quantify.
Letting emotions run the show can lead to:
Impulsivity over strategy
You quit on a bad day or chase excitement without considering long-term impact.
Avoidance of discomfort
You dodge necessary but hard decisions because they feel uncomfortable.
Short-term highs over long-term gains
You prioritize what feels good now over what’s actually best for you.
The best leaders—and the most successful and fulfilled people—don’t pit intellect and intuition against each other.
They use both.
Pause and listen to both
Instead of rushing into logic or emotion, ask: What is my head saying? What is my gut | intuition saying? Intuition is often very quiet, but incredibly clear.
Find where they align
If your intellect and emotions disagree, look deeper—what’s missing?
Give them different rolesUse intellect to create structure.
Use intuition to create meaning based on what you deeply value. Together, they make decisions that are both strategic and fulfilling.
